O newsmaking na imprensa do interior: a rotina produtiva do jornal A Voz do Vale do Paraíba

This study analyses the productive routine of the newspaper A Voz do Vale do Paraíba,located in Taubaté, State of S?o Paulo, Brazil, focusing on the relationship between itand the press assistance (public relations) of the local government. The theoreticalmethodology is used as basis for the discussion involving the productive routine of thecommunication means, including the approach on gatekeepers and on newsmaking. Oneof the main goals of this paper is to understand how a newspaper that doesn't havejournalists in its staff can survive, being distributed daily for 55 years in town. One ofthe conclusions is that the habit of publishing in whole the releases that arrive by pressagents, most of the time without revision, indicates that the institution depends on thefinancial contributions originated from the relationship with the politicians if it wantsto continue to exist.
