The subject of this article is a measurement of thermal flow under laboratory conditions. We define the thermal flow as an amount of heat transmitted through a surface of rock over a certain period of time. According to the Atlas of Geothermal Energy, thermal flow ranges from 40 to 120 mW/m2. It is not possible to measure it directly on the rock surface. The conventional ways of measurement is a “separation bar” thermic conduction measurement system or measurement of the temperature of the rock in two different places at selected underground depth intervals. These measurements and analyses are not sufficient to make a final conclusion. It is necessary to repeat the measurements under real conditions.
