Indeed, while the focus of this text is on imaging, it should really be considered a general and fairly comprehensive textbook on traumatic brain and head injury. The chapters on epidemiology, brain injury physiology, and broader aspects of head injury really broaden the scope of this work. Moreover, I found that the second chapter discussing when to order cranial imaging a very valuable chapter. As a neurosurgeon I learned a great deal from the chapters on orbital and maxillofacial trauma. Indeed, I found it peculiar that only one chapter in the book seemed to address the specific topic that titles the book—and even this chapter broadly discusses issues such as clinical grading scales for traumatic brain injury as well as outcome prediction.
