Medical and Health Sciences 1977 is one of four separate sections which take data from the seven volumes of the thirteenth edition of American Men and Women of Science (AMWS). The other sections cover: biology; chemistry; and physicsastronomy- mathematics-statistics and related sciences. There is no new or additional information in this volume. It provides basic biographical information on 26,500 U.S. scientists in medical and related fields: name, education, disciplines, past and present full-time and concurrent positions, society memberships, research interests, address, and usually birthdate and birthplace. There is a detailed discipline index and a geographic index. Because there is no unique information in this volume, I cannot recommend it for libraries that own the main work. However, for a library that does not want or cannot afford the complete AMWS, this is an excellent addition to the reference collection.
