This greatly enlarged and immensely improved Second, Revised Edition of one of Mr. Thornton's most useful works towers above the first edition of 1949 in quality as well as mass-445 pages against 293-and at that the two appendices of 1949 have been dropped. Most of the chapters have been completely rewritten and corrected, and a much better book results from these efforts.
