Communication Problems in Biomedical Research: Report of a Study by the Division of Medical Sciences, National Academy of Sciences- National Research Council in Cooperation with Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology and Institute for Advancement of Medical Communication. [Slightly abridged from a report submitted to the Director of the National Institutes of Health, October 1963.] The scientific community and the federal government have for the past several years been increasingly concerned with problems of the communication of research results and their ultimate use in the public interest. Indeed, readers of the BULLETIN are only too well aware that control of information on the information problem is creating a new problem all on its own. They should thus welcome this NAS/NRC report because it not only contains a summary of eminent scientific opinions, marshalled by Dr. Maurice Visscher, Chairman of the Advisory Committee, but in the background papers presents a kind of synthesis of much that has been said and done of pertinence to the biomedical field.
