$3.00 A GALLON?

I am sure that the rising cost of fuel is an issue that is on everyone's mind. The increase seems to have been particularly precipitous over the past few months, to the extent that I find myself marveling that the dollar amount on the gas pump can actually move that fast. Even my wife commented on how much more it costs to fill her car up versus a month or so ago. Of course, the pundits will say that we should all remember that, in real terms, the price of a gallon of gasoline is still lower today then it has been at times in the past. However, this becomes a relatively meaningless assessment when one is watching the price of regular unleaded soar to well over two dollars per gallon here in Charleston. I know there will be many reading this who wish they were paying that little for their gas; one of the benefits of living in South Carolina. And having just come back from The Netherlands where folks pay the equivalent of close to $6.50 a gallon, it does help to keep things in perspective.
