It has been more than five months since Southeast Asia was blindsided by one of nature's most destructive and terrifying forces―a tsunami. Triggered by a 9.3 magnitude earthquake that shook the sea floor 100 miles off the coast of Sumatra, Indonesia, the Dec. 26 tsunami wreaked havoc on the coastlines of more than a dozen countries in the Indian Ocean. With more than 225,000 people dead, millions displaced from their homes and the infrastructure of entire communities too crippled to function, the need for global action was immediate and overwhelming.
