Rebuilding Our Nation's Infrastructure The Time Has Come and The Time is Now!

If you're a regular reader of my Homeland Security column, you're aware that my last two columns have focused on our Nation's deteriorating transportation infrastructure and the need to DO SOMETHING NOW! Hopefully, through these columns, I have made the case for the need to take quick action and address this ever-growing problem.rnIn the President's Corner remarks in the February 2009 issue of the Defense Transportation Journal, LTG Ken Wykle, USA (Ret.), stated, "Domestically, . . . Attention is being placed on our infrastructure. We should start by developing a national framework for infrastructure renewal while simultaneously funding specific infrastructure projects." Although President Obama's federal "bailouts" and "stimulus" packages are designed to address our deteriorating infrastructure, it will take some time for such changes and benefits to impact our National infrastructure.
