The Secretary of State is the Presi-dent's principal foreign policy advisor and is responsible for the formulation of foreign policy and the execution of approved policy. The Secretary has responsibilities, by vir-tue of law or Executive order, with re-spect to such matters as international educational and cultural affairs, infor-mation activities, foreign assistance, food for peace, arms control and dis-armament, supervision of programs authorized by the Peace Corps Act, social science research, immigration, and refugee assistance.
