The latest generations of combat clothing and individual protection are being characterised by increasing levels of modularity, and the need to achieve greater protection for lighter weight. These cannot be achieved without consultation, as the experience of the United States Army's Program Executive Office (PEO) Soldier has discovered. DMJ speaks to Lieutenant Colonel Jon Rickey, Product Manager, Soldier Protective Equipment (SPE), about the US Army's new range of protective clothing, including the Improved Outer Tactical Vest (IOTV), and Advanced Combat Helmet (ACH), and the developmental processes that have influenced their introduction.
