In February 2010, the Defence Strategy for Acquisition Reform stated that sustainable development needed to be involved in every stage of acquisition in order to assist in the reduction of carbon emissions. The MoD Sustainable Procurement Strategy outlined in further detail the importance of utilising renewable and sustainable technologies, and of reducing waste.The Defence General Munitions Project Team (DGM PT), who procure and manage through-life the stockpile of MoD's general munitions, are working to further the reuse and recycling of materials where possible in order to reduce the MoD's carbon footprint.
