The Royal Navy's aviation branch is a key asset in maritime operations, with currently over 6,000 personnel and some 200 aircraft. However, there are many risks to take into consideration when flying at sea. In the event of a malfunction or an emergency caused by adverse weather, the threat to life can be high. The proper training, therefore, is hugely important, and plays a major role in flying operations both from vessels at sea and stations based on-shore.
