Gears, shafts, bearings, and Lubrication are all subject to calculations from the concept stage. Calculation of gear ratios and transmission matching are handled in the fixed body domain. This is also true for a number of gear dimensioning problems, where well established standards are available; however such standards can be conservative, and for optimization, finite element analysis (FEA) will be required.
