摘要

Contact start-stop (CSS) mode has been providing many challenges to tribolo-gists for more than two decades. There has been a steady trend to lower the glide capability of the data surface and nominal fly height as areal density increases. However, glide requirements for the CSS zone start to diverge at around 0.8 uin. One group stays high regardless of the nominal fly heights, while the other group continues to lower the avalanches—the flying height below which a slider can no longer sustain noncon-tact flying—to maintain a certain margin.
