The French love a celebration and the agricultural community of this food-oriented country need one. They face unprecedented challenges and changes in common with all other European farmers and food producers. The opportunity for 10,700 judges in this 150th Concours General to award gold, silver and bronze medals for their precious animals, along with food and drink products, gives continuity to the original purpose of the Concours, which is 'to reward excellence and recognise the importance and authenticity of 'terroir' and regional traditions'. Competition is still very keen after all these years.
