摘要

The latest achievements of genetic engineering of plant species belonging to the family Brassicaceae, many of which are important oil, vegetable, and forage crops, are generalized. The results of developing effective methods of transforming brassicas both by means of Agrobacterium and direct transfer of genes are examined in detail. Mam emphasis was made on the possibilities of genetic alteration of plants for improving their economically useful traits. Problems of the biological safety of introducing transgenic plants of the family Brassicaceae into agricultural practice are also discussed.
