摘要

It is shown that it is possible to produce phenotypically normal transgenic sugar beet plants after transformation by Agrobacterium rhizogenes by direct regeneration from explants, by-passing the "hairy root" stage. Kanamycin-resistant transformed Ri roots and sugar beet plants carrying neomycin phosphotransferase Ⅱ and β-glucuronidase genes were obtained. Integration of the transgenes into the genome of the sugar beet plants was confirmed by the histochemical test for GUS activity and PCR analysis with the use of primers specific to the sequences of the introduced genes.
