Ownership to be reviewed

South Taranaki District Council last month initiated steps to review the future of Egmont Electricity. The district council acquired ownership of the assets of the former Egmont Electric Power Board, including the Patea hydroelectric scheme, on 1 October 1993. The transfer, for a nominal $1, put about $88 million of assets and $48 million of term liabilities in the council's hands.
