Engineering Design: A Materials and Processing Approach is for senior engineering students, especially for students in mechanical and industrial engineering. It is also an excellent book for manufacturing, cost, and design engineers as it presents many different engineering tools in a manufacturing setting. It has a total of 17 chapters and all of the chapters have some relevance to manufacturing or cost issues. Some of the more pertinent chapters for manufacturing cost engineers are Materials Selection and Materials in Design; Material Processing and Design; Economic Decision Making, and Cost Evaluation. There is also a chapter on Legal and Ethical issues in Engineering Design, which has taken on considerable importance since the unethical practices of a few CEO's have caused the demise of their companies.
