Bam Construct unveils carbon target plans

Bam Construct is setting carbon emissions targets at the start of each new project and using energy-efficiency data when bidding for contracts, it has revealed. In its 2010 carbon footprint report, the group reported a small reduction in emissions to 19,626 tonnes compared with its revised 2009 figure of 19,921 tonnes. However, it also recorded an increase in carbon emissions per million pounds of turnover from 17.8 tonnes in 2009 to 18.9 last year. The firm attributes this to an increase in electricity use in construction due "primarily to the particularly bad winter we experienced during the year".
