Kier-May Gurney strength hits market

Kier has made bids for the United ntilities £3bn construction framework and a £390m Staffordshire highways deal, after boosting its bidding capacity as a result of its takeover of May Gurney. Chief executive Paul Sheffield highlighted the deals as among those it can now bid for due to its extended capability following the £22lm acquisition. Mr Sheffield was speaking to Construction News after Kier posted a £20m drop in pre-tax profits to £43m in its preliminary results for the year to 30 June.
