Thames Water race narrows

The race to become part of Thames Water's £3 billion alliance has shortened, with five joint ventures still in the hunt to design-and- build partners and five consultants left bidding for two alliance places. They include three consultants vying to become programme manager and two firms in the running to become the innovation and technology provider. Last month CN revealed the names of 20 contractors, engineers and consultants who had prequalified for the alliance. A joint venture between Amec and May Gurney and a second team named KUV Water, which included Kier,URS and VolkerFitzpatrick,have lost their place tendering for the design-and-build spots on the alliance.
