Trade union membership in the construction sector is at its lowest levels since records began, according to government data. Only 13.1 per cent of the industry workforce was a member of a trade union by the end of 2015. This was down from 13.8 per cent the year before, according to the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. The figures are the lowest proportion since records began in 1995, when 30.4 per cent of the workforce was a union member.
