Briefing: Resistance to ballistic penetration of insulated concrete formwork

Insulated concrete formwork blocks with various fillings were subjected to repeated rounds from an AK47 assault rifle. Glass cullet and 5-20 mm aggregate performed well with no complete perforation after many rounds. The insulated concrete formwork was found to be very effective at minimising spalling from concrete and improving its ballistic resistance.
