As pickups, Heavy Duty versions of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra are offered in 2500 and 3500 series. For 2015, GM is promoting expanded availability of a bi-fuel, gasoline-compressed natural gas option for the 6-liter V-8. Coded LC8, the engine has hardened valves and valve seats that enable it to run on gasoline or dryer CNG. It is rated at 360 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. on gasoline and 301 horsepower and 333 lb.-ft. on CNG. These engines both use a 6-speed Hydra-Matic 6L90 automatic transmission. The 6.6-liter Dura-max V-8 diesel is rated at 397 horsepower and 765 Ib.-ft. and runs through an Allison 1000 automatic. The HD pickups share cabs with the 1500 series; 2500 and 3500 models come in WT (Work Truck) and LT trim levels in 2-door Regular Cab, and WT, LT and LTZ trims in 4-door Double and Crew Cabs. The Double Cab with forward-hinged rear doors has replaced the Extended cab with rear-hinged rear doors.
