Nestled in the northeastern corner of Italy, about 30 miles outside Venice, is an 8,000-square-foot home that boasts a truly Bella ("Beautiful" in Italian) theater, for it belongs to the Bella family: Aronne, his wife, and their four children. They spend about five hours a day in their theater, so making it cozy and inviting was the most important design task. Maurizio Conti, designer of the Bella home theater, explains that because the project included the entire house, it was important to understand what the family needed from the installed electronics. "The family [because of the youngsters] watches lots of television and lots of cartoons for the children." Conti says that, due to the four kids' differing opinions about what to watch, it was necessary to build four media zones so any member of the family could watch his or her own desired satellite program in separate rooms. "The kitchen, fireplace room, master bedroom, and media room are the separate media zones, which work to maintain peace within the house," Conti says.
