Admixtures and pumped concrete in high-rise applications

Pumping is undoubtedly the only method of delivery for concrete in high-rise construction, allowing it to be placed in areas that are difficult or impossible to reach by other placement methods. It often results in savings in manpower, equipment cost and cycle time. However, pumping concrete to great heights presents its own challenges for mix design, which advances in admixtures have helped to overcome.
