Months of speculation of a Dell and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) partnership were put to rest after the PC maker announced it will use AMD's Opteron chip in multi-processor servers by the end of the year. Dell's initial embrace of AMD will only involve servers with four processors and the company said it currently has no plans to sell AMD's chips in desktop PCs, notebooks or other servers.
