Intel outlines dual-core vision at its annual developer forum

At this year's Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in San Francisco, Intel Corp. pronounced 2006 as the year of dual-core. It is in the latter half of next year when the chipmaker will make available three new dual-core products for servers, desktops and notebooks. There are three new microprocessors: Woodcrest (servers), Conroe (desktops) and Merom (laptops). Each are expected to increase performance by up to five times while reducing power consumption.
