Editors Kathryn Comer, Michael Harker, and Ben McCorkle collaborate on their digital book The Archive as Classroom: Pedagogical Approaches to the Digital Archive of Literacy Narratives (2019) to produce a work that is refreshing in its blend of theory, pedagogy, and digital resources. The Archive as Classroom settles itself within multiple fields, being relevant to scholars and teacher-scholars of composition, digital technologies and rhetoric, and literacy studies. The editors' expertise in each of these topics makes it a balanced and well-rounded work that is transferable to a wide range of applications. The book focuses on the Digital Archive of Literacy Narratives (DALN), featuring various ways in which authoring teacher-scholars have implemented the DALN into their pedagogies. It is a work that is relevant to in-service teachers looking to update their curriculum or research methods, but is also accessible to preservice teachers, and designed to be used by both. The diverse range of voices and experiences presented here align this digital book with conversations regarding students' right to their own language and pedagogical practices for acknowledging student writers' agency.
