A multimedia presentation system for MHEG-5 applications

The brand-new ISO/IEC MHEG-5 (Multimedia and Hypermedia information coding Expert Group) standard defines a representation model for interactive multimedia applications, including specifications for their final-form encoding, and supporting their distribution in a client/server architecture across heterogeneous platforms. This paper introduces the main MHEG-5 concepts and provisions, considering relationships to the DAVIC (Digital Audio VIsual Council specifications. The focus is the description of a presentation system for MHEG-5 applications, in Terms of both the functionalities it provides, and of the implementation approach.
