Computer networks (Elsevier) special issue on advances in wireless and mobile networks

摘要

In barely two decades, we have witnessed the emergence of four generations of standards for cellular mobile networks, several standards for satellite networks, and a plethora of standards for metropolitan, local, and personal area networks. Emerging networks include both infrastructure-based ones such as 3 and 4-G networks, and infrastructureless networks such as wireless mesh networks, wireless sensor networks, cognitive networks, vehicular ad hoc networks, opportunistic (or delay-tolerant) networks, and mobile ad hoc networks. These networks and the multitude of applications that they enable are driving research at an exciting pace.
