Sixth Circuit Finds Lexis did not Infringe Law Firm's Copyright

In Ross, Brovins & Oehmke, PC. v. Lexis Nexis Group [No. 05-1513 (6th Cir. 09/15/2006)], the firm of Ross, Brovins & Oehmke, P.C. (doing business as LawMode) entered into an agreement with Lexis to create and market a system of automated Michigan legal forms. The agreement that LawMode and Lexis signed in 1997, later modified in 1999, required LawMode to create various templates for filling in the required information for selected Michigan legal forms.
