What's the threat?Scammers have stolen personal Information from thousands of Android users after tricking them into clicking adverts for Netflix coupons or tickets for football matches.Once you click, you're asked to sign in with your Facebook account (see screenshot), only to be told that the offer has expired. The scammers now have access to your account, and use it to spread the fake offers and deadlier malware to other victims. The adverts appear on phones and tablets if you install the app containing the malware, which has been named FlyTrap by researchers at Zimperium, the Texan company that spotted the threat. They traced the attack to a known criminal gang in Vietnam, which has infected over 10,000 devices in at least 144 countries, including the UK.The scammers managed to bypass Google's security checks to get the app listed on the Play Store, though it has now been removed, and it no longer works on the devices it was installed on. However, it's still available on unofficial Android app stores not run by Google.
