Whether you want to find out more about specific hardware inside your PC or get a complete picture of all its components, HWiNFO is the tool to use (click the green Download button under Installer at the link above). Business users now need to pay to use HWiNFO (starting at £26.84), but it remains free for home users. The main screen divides your hardware into eleven categories. Open the Drives category, for example, and you'll see all hard drives attached to your PC - select one to view information including its SMART status (this shows whether your drive is healthy or at risk of failure - see below).
