Volta Trucks has paired up with Petit Forestier to develop a refrigerated electric HGV for the rental market, marking the former company's largest-ever order. The latter firm, which specialises in refrigerated CV rental, will take delivery of 1,000 16-tonne vehicles developed by the electric truck manufacturer, which should be available for hire in 2022. They will be bodied and kitted out by Petit Forestier's in-house equipment company Lecapitaine, and join the group's existing fleet of more than 58,500 vehicles. The first examples are due to be tested in 2021, before full-scale production begins the following year.
