LESS STRESS, MORE TRAINING

The "Self-Defense" article, case three in the June09 issue brought me to tears. I served with that Petty Officer in Kuwait from 2005 to 2006. The widow did indeed hit the nail on the head that he was a caring, gentle, kind man who loved serving his country. Shortly after the accident, I sent e-mails concerning this incident.rnI handled many weapons over many years, and have qualified as expert with the M9. I consider the 9mm as safe a weapon as any. However, when qualifying in the military, it seems as if range instructors (some, not all) intensify the pressure creating a nervousness that is not needed. Another factor, where was his vest? A lot of people don't like wearing them; however, when in the military, and going out on-duty, vests are required. Why not train like for real? I certainly can respect going from strong hand to weak hand as a hard thing to do, I am left-handed, shoot right-handed, so this is somewhat more confusing.
