There was a wealth of information in James K. Wagner's article on 1967-72 GMC light-duty trucks (CA, June 2017). I especially appreciated his elaboration on the early history of the GMC brand. What has been little reported, but is easily observed, is what has happened to that brand in more recent times. Growing up in Kokomo, Indiana, in the Fifties, my best friend Doc Chambers and I spent countless hours parked on our bicycles at the corner of Washington and Sycamore streets, just watching the cars and trucks roll by Although we were able to spot untold varieties of 1930s-1950s vehicles, it would be fair to say that some whole weeks passed by without our seeing a single GMC truck. To be sure, we were always aware of the GMC brand, but as a product of the Big Three GMCs were pretty rare.
