Back in 2001 at the Orlando Memories Expo show, I learned a lesson that had helped me become a better director and can help you become better retailers. During 2001, while traveling with Memories Expo shows, I hosted over 2,000 scrappers from coast-to-coast at Memories Community crops and shared in the growing national enthusiasm. I had been to all of the industry trade shows and thought that I was on top of new products coming into the industry. I was shocked to learn that was not the case. At our Memories Community in Orlando, I entered a Friday night crop where over 630 scrap-bookers worked on their scrapbooks. There I was met with the din of pounding small hammers. "What was going on?" I wondered. The noise was so loud that I knew I could not speak until the hammering stopped.
