They say everyone loves a challenge. It brings out our competitive spirit and calls on us to present the best we have to give. Today designers need to heed the call for change coming from all corners of the industry. The craft industry reinvented itself while no one was looking. The grassroots crafter who always has been an important part of our culture no longer is the focus of our industry. Because of this shift to occasional crafters, we are being challenged to redefine what crafting is, who is doing it, and why they are doing it. Never before has the industry been at this point, and it is gratifying to see all segments of our industry coming together to focus on a singular Stephani purpose - the health and growth of the new craft market. But what role does a designer play in this effort?
