AUDI R18 E-TRON QUATTRO ACHIEVES FIRST VICTORY FOR AN HEV AT LE MANS

The German automaker Audi achieved a significant technological milestone in motorsporting in June during the 80th running of the famous Le Mans 24 Hours race held in France. Its Audi R18 e-tron Quattro, equipped with a diesel fueled hybrid electric drivetrain, was the race winner. The victory was the first for any hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) at Le Mans. Other Audi R18 cars placed second, third and fifth. All four R18 cars had the chance to clinch what amounted to Audi's 11th Le Mans victory.
