Since expiring on September 30, 2007, the Vision 100-Century of Aviation Reauthorization Act-the law that authorizes the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and its programs-has been repeatedly extended by a series of temporary measures. At press time, Congress had continued authorization for the agency through April 30. Although both houses of Congress passed legislation in late March to reauthorize the FAA before adjourning for the spring recess, significant differences between the bills remain to be resolved, including some of interest to advocates of increased funding for aviation infrastructure.
