Much has been written about the birth of the cinema, but the following account by a French newspaper reporter, who witnessed the event, says it all ... "One evening in December 1895, a crowd of Parisians gathered to see the world change. It was the first public presentation of a device by the Lumiere brothers, called the Cinematographe. Unimpressed, the audience watched as the image of a street was projected onto a screen. But when a horse suddenly came into view, pulling a cart, they were stunned - They knew they had seen the future.... The motion picture had been born."
