The BKSTS - Moving Image Society Annual Award for The Advancement of Cinema Technology is given each year to a person or a company in recognition of an invention or innovation that has significantly benefited the Cinema industry. The first BKSTS Award for The Advancement of Cinema Technology is to be presented at Cine-Expo in Amsterdam in 2006, which is the 75th Anniversary of the BKSTS - The Moving Image Society. The 2006 Award is to be presented to Kinoton, for the development and introduction of the non-rewind platter system to the cinema industry. The Award recognises an invention which has, since its inception, proved to be profoundly important to the operation and the business of the cinema industry, and which has played a major part in making the world-wide implementation of multiplex cinemas practical and economic.
