Strive to Open up the Frontiers of Medicine -A Summary of the Successive Symposiums in Hong Kong on the Review and Prospect of the Combination of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine
On November 5th, 1995, Professor CHEN Wei-yang gave a lecture, entitled "The Historical Necessity and Practical Significance of the Combination of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine", in the lecture hall of Hong Kong Science Center. That was the prelude to the successive symposiums in Hong Kong on the review and prospect of the combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine. Since then twelve symposiums have been held with experts and professors mainly from China giving lectures in Hong Kong. The last lecture on "The Clinical Study of Internal Medicine by Way of Combining Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine and Its Progress" was given by Professor CHEN Shi-kui on October 13th, 1996, the same day the closing ceremony was held. With the joint effort of the specialists, professors and all the participants, the academic field of the combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine was opened up in Hong Kong.
