Panorama of PetroChina Oil and Gas Development in 1996～2000

As of the end of 2000, PetroChina found 293 oil fields in total across China with the proven oil in place being 14.35 billion tons and the recoverable reserves being 4.38 billion tons. A total of 219 oil fields in its affiliated 13 oil areas have been put into development.rnDuring the Ninth Five-Year Plan period (1996～2000), PetroChina produced nearly 523.89 million tons of crude in total, 40.89 million tons more than the previous five-year period. The additional crude production reached 35.025 million tons, accounting for 6.67 percent of the total. However, the water injection pumping is the most important production way that PetroChina has used in this period of time. The injection-production ratio is 1.09, slightly higher than the ratio of 1.02 in the Eighth Five-Year Plan period.
