Results of 65 years of scientific and engineering activities of the Institute and examples of studies involving design of industrial projects and equipment are examined. R&D trends, which specialists of the Institute follow, are indicated. The national standards (GOST R) developed in recent years for design and development of vessels and high-pressure pipelines, as well as the scientific and engineering capabilities of the Institute's specialists and pilot production are presented in the article. Problems requiring solution for innovative development of the machine-building industry and creation of domestic production and a market for machine-building parts and commercial items are indicated.
