QUADRUPLEX DNA: ANTICANCER KNOT?

Folded DNA structures called G-quad-ruplexes that may be present at the ends of human chromosomes are attracting growing interest as targets for the development of a new class of highly specific therapeutic agents for the treatment of cancer and other diseases. There are still some significant hurdles to cross, however. For example, the very existence of quadruplexes in living cells has not yet been demonstrated with certainty.
