Highly crystalline metal oxide nanoparticles such as CoO, ZnO, Fe_3O_4, MnO, Mn_3O_4, and BaTiO_3 were synthesized in just a few minutes by reacting metal alkoxides, acetates or acetylace-tonates with benzyl alcohol under microwave heating.
